Hey, who doesn’t like a Tanto? They are iconic in their romantic/historical legacy and in the uniqueness of their look. They’re pretty dang practical too. Lots of people say that the tanto tip makes it a great stabbing weapon. I don’t know about that, but I do know that the way that tip is ground makes it really strong for woods work. It’s hard to explain but it boils down to the grind being much lower than the grind on the main edge. Which means it has a lot more steel left in it and that’s what makes it so strong, all that steel backing up the tip.

The Phantom Tanto is my interpretation of that iconic knife pattern. I made it, mainly because I like the aesthetics but it makes a really great woods knife. Mine has the characteristic Turley dropped edge and a little less traditional grind than you’d normally see on a Tanto knife. I will say, if you do decide to use it as a combat knife, you’re going to want to get one with a guard on it. Any kind of stabbing knife should always have a finger guard.
